Thunder roars upon the horizon, rain scratching against the windows as the howling of the wind outside threatens to drown her scream out. Her breathing's gone wild, her heart hammering against her chest as she tries to grasp at something, only to find that cold emptiness awaits. Eva is typically a heavy sleeper, little can stir her from a deep sleep. Since Eris has been staying with them, she has found herself a bit more reluctant to stay in the deep sleep too long. Something about a maternal instinct keeping her alert. Who knows? Biology is crazy like that.

She’s already half awake with howling wind keeping her light. Any deeper, and she might have missed it beneath the thunder.

With a sharp breath and wide eyes she’s sitting up, throwing the covers to the side and slipping out of the bedroom. MATIAS SILPH had to have heard it too, he’s a light sleeper.

The door to her room cracks open, quiet at first in case she was still sleeping and the cry was Eva’s own imagination. No, she finds the child reeling beneath the covers, lost in nightmare.

”Eris!”

Eva rushes to the side of the bed, a gentle touch over the covers to sooth and not startle, “Eris, are you alright?”

When gold, the colour of light and safety slides into her vision, she's quick to latch onto them, hugging them tight as her fears continue to rattle her nerves.
